US Navy SEAL Missions History

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

The Navy SEALs were commissioned by President Kennedy. It was his foresight to start a force that could engage in unconventional warfare. Since then there has been no looking back. The Navy SEALs of today are highly proficient and skilled in various tactics of warfare. Here are some of the missions the SEALs started from the initial years till date.

It was during the year 1962 on January 1st at 1300 hours that two Navy SEAL teams – team one and team two were deployed to the Pacific and Atlantic fleets respectively. They were commissioned to these two separate areas in order to engage in unconventional warfare also known as UW.

In the year 1963 shortly after the establishment of the Navy SEALs the Vietnam War started. The Navy SEAL team one was sent to Danang province in Vietnam to serve below the directives of the CIA command of the Chief of Station. This was the very first time that the first war detachment of Vietnam from elements of the Navy SEAL team was deployed. Later on during 1964 the Navy SEALs became a part of the CINC or the commander in chief of the theater forces of Vietnam.

It was during the year 1987 that the original Navy SEAL Team SIX came to be called as DEVGRU also called DEVelopment GRoUp. On 16th April 1987 at the Naval Amphibious Base Coronado at San Diego, the Naval Special Warfare Command was commissioned here. The objective of this command was to make preparatory actions for all the special naval warfare forces to implement all the designated missions and also to create new strategic warfare tactics and operations.

The Role of US Navy SEALs in Iraq

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

US Navy SEALs are well known for being elite. US Nay SEALs have long being known for having to pass training requirements which would be considered literally impossible for any normal human being. Having to swim 50 meters under water is among many of the requirements that the US Nay SEALs ask of their soldiers. The peak physical of conditions of soldiers is not all they have going for them; they also have a unique loyalty to each other which can be best described by a recent event in Iraq. A grenade was thrown into a building with 3 soldiers, one of those soldiers, knowing he would not have enough time to remove the grenade from the building, jumped upon the grenade resulting in his own death in an attempt to save the other soldiers in the same building. Such admirable behavior and their success in small people, large impact missions help to create the ethos which surrounds the US Navy SEALs and make them worthy of so much respect.

One of the US Navy SEALs core competencies is being particularly skilled in close combat situations, which makes their input in Iraq particularly import when covert attacks with close by civilians form a large part of the duties which are needed. As a result of that US Navy SEALs have also been training other parts of the military in Iraq, making their role very important indeed.

Why is the United States of America so Strong?

Monday, November 26th, 2007

The United States of America is the greatest nation ever created on the surface of the planet. No one can deny this unless they’re willing to tell a lie. But do you know why we’re No. 1? Do you know why the United States of America is such a great nation and why this nation is the leader of all other nations?

Well let me tell you. You see The United States of America has by far the strongest military on this planet. The United States Air Force in the United States Navy together have superior air power that prompts all other nations in all other Air Force’s combined.

There is no other nation that can stand up against United States of America’s military. The stealth technology can penetrate into air space without detection and the anti surface air missile systems will prevent any aircraft from being shot down. With the new precision guidance ordnances each bomb or missile will hit its exact target within a few feet. Yet still some nations like Iran wished to challenge us and to make threats, but let’s look at reality.

The United States Navy has submarines, which have a greater firepower than the entire Iranian military combined into that is on one submarine alone. Do you have any idea how we submarines United States Navy has? It has also been said that once stealth fighter can do more damage to a single exact target then 50 B-17 flying Fortress on five missions could do in World War II. It is very unwise to take a sharp stick and poke it at a titanium tiger.

The United States Navy: A Legacy Of Power

Monday, September 17th, 2007

The U.S. Navy was started in an era when the true measure of a country was the size and strength of its naval forces. A strong fleet of ships could mean the difference between losing and winning a war. The Revolutionary War was just getting started, and the matter of a navy began to become more pressing as imminent battle drew near. Some argued that it would be impossible to challenge the British navy, since they had the most powerful of the time. However, in a move to protect shipments and defend the new country, Congress began to build a fleet.

However, this first navy didn’t last for long, and the ships were decommissioned soon. But later, the Naval Act of 1794 was established, which called for six frigates to be constructed and turned into a naval fleet. Fortunately, they didn’t see too much action, though they did fight in a few wars, including the undeclared war with France, and the War of 1812. During this time, the USA began to see the benefit of having strong ships around, and steadily added more to the fleet. The Navy played huge roles in the Mexican-American war, and the Civil War.

Since then, the U.S. Navy has continued to grow and grow. In 1880, a program was started to modernize the ships. Since then, technology has progressed at such a fast rate, that this program has, in effect, never stopped. Now, in the 21st century, the U.S. Navy is made up of huge metal battleships that are always being updated with new technology, weapons, and abilities. The Navy a huge force, protecting America and carrying out missions. It has been like this for hundreds of years, and with modern technology it appears that the importance of the U.S. Navy will not lessen anytime soon.
